Recommended Gear

Over the years of making pizzas at home I've used some great tools, and some terrible ones. This is a list of my favourite bits and bobs, things I'd buy again and things that I love using.

Ovens

G3 Ferrari Pizza Oven

When I'm cooking Pizzas indoors I use my Giles and Posner Bella pizza maker, unfortunately these are no longer available anywhere I can find online so I'd recommend the G3 Ferrari Pizza Oven, it looks and works in the same way and whilst these ovens can take a bit of getting used to the results are superb.

Ooni Pizza ovens

If you're cooking outside then you can't beat the Ooni pizza ovens, they come in a variety of types from wood burning, wood pellet and gas too, there's also both 12 inch and 16 inch varieties, so you can get the perfect oven for your needs and budget.

Utensils

Wooden Pizza Peel

I like to use thin, wooden Pizza peels to get the pizzas into the oven, the reason is, I find the dough doesn't stick to wood like it does with metal and these ones aren't varnished so rubbing a little flower on really helps.

These are the last ones I purchased on Amazon and they worked perfectly for me. Link

Metal Pizza Peel

When getting the pizza out of the oven I find a metal peel to be easier to use than a wooden one, and these from Ooni are a great choice.

Cooling Rack

A cooling rack helps the base of the pizza to stay crispy so if that's important to you, and it should be! Then grab a cooling rack, any cooling rack will do as long as it's big enough to fit the size of pizzas you make.

I use one from my local supermarket, but a similar one is available on Amazon here.

Ingredients

Caputo 00 Pizzeria Flour

For my flour I exclusively use Caputo 00 Pizzeria flour as the supermarket stuff just isn't the same. I tend to buy it in bulk as I get through a bag pretty quickly.

Caputo Yeast

Sticking with Caputo, I use their yeast in my Pizzas, I tend to just get a single 3.5 ounce (100g) pot at a time as there's enough for hundreds of pizzas in there so no point getting more as it'll likely go off before you can use it.

About Me

Hi, I'm Alan and I'm a pizza lover, I enjoy travelling, particularly to Italy having been to Rome, Venice and Florence in recent years. Whilst away I always try to find the best Pizza and then recreate it when I get home.
